Being an adult leader, or Scouter, in the Boy Scouts is one of the most fulfilling roles you can take.
You can be as involved as you like and have time for. If you're interested in being an adult leader,
please fill out the two adult forms in the new parent packet (also found in the Attachment section below).
Troop level positions:
Scoutmaster / Asst Scoutmaster
Merit Badge Counselor
Troop Committee: the troop committee is the 'executive board', so to speak, of the troop. Among its duties include approving troop policy, handling legal aspects of running a troop, and helping with long term planning of troop activities. Troop committee members also conduct Board of Reviews for rank advancement. This is an interview with the scout which ultimately approves his rank advancement. Positions in the troop committee include, but is not limited to:

If you're interested in becoming an adult leader, just talk to any of the leaders at the next troop meeting. We'll be happy to discuss options and how you can best serve our troop. It is through positive, outgoing adult leadership that we give the best program to our scouts. As of June 2010, Youth Protection Training must be completed BEFORE your adult registration form is handed in.
ADULT LEADER TRAINING:
The training
program of the Boy Scouts of America provides important information and
helps leaders become confident in carrying out their responsibilities. Each Scout leader's job is different. This is the main reason why
training leaders is so vital to the success of the program. Not only
must they know how important their jobs are, but they must be acquainted
with the methods used to attract and hold boys in Scouting. All required (R) training requirements for Committee members can be done online. The other training courses are done either at Council offices and/or at Camp Sinoquipe.
